As always, great stuff! One interesting conflict I see here is between the notion of a "called shot" per Packy and an "earned secret" per Mark Leonard. This is something I've thought about frequently and my current view is you have to pick one or the other. Thoughts?

Interesting!

I think they end up synergizing far more often than not. I like to view earned secrets as the problem itself or the lack of solutions for a problem.

The called shots tend to orient around the technology and team enabling the solution.

In Loop’s case, the earned secret stemmed from time spent in the industry at Uber Freight. The problem is so messy it was almost assumed to be near intractable.

The called shot stems from picking a precise way to approach the issue and mapping out a way to create massive industry value around the solution.

The synthesis is probably around the need to both have the core insight, the guts and operational savvy to execute a visionary approach.
